William J. "Tank" Turner, 70, of Carbondale, PA, died Monday night, September 11, 2023 at Wilkes Barre General Hospital, Wilkes Barre, PA, after an illness.

Born June 15, 1953 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Raymond and Helen Degroat Turner.

Bill was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Tobyhanna Army Depot in their painting department. Bill was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and was of the Baptist faith. He was a fan of the New York Yankees.

He is survived by one sister: Beverly Welch of Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews including, June "Dee" O'Connor and Michael Nolan.

He was also preceded in death by one brother: Robert Turner; and three sisters: Alma Beaudette, June Nolan and Edna Niedzinski.

The funeral was held Friday, September 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, PA, with Rev. Deborah Loessy, pastor of the Berean Baptist Church, Carbondale, officiating. Interment with military honors, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst, PA.

Pallbearers: Michael Nolan, Nathan Nolan, Conner Casey and John Evola.
