Obituary

William J. Kozlansky, 74, of Montdale, PA., died Saturday, January 19, 2013 of heart failure while hiking in the woods with his grandson. He and his wife, the former Ann Marie Moran, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 22, 2012. Born October 29, 1938, he was the son of late William J. and Anna Kozlansky of Scranton's North End. He was educated in Scranton schools before settling in Fayson Lakes NJ. He was a brakeman for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad until moving to Montdale in 1973. He owned and operated Willy's Chimney Service, Montdale. An enthusiastic sportsmen, he was well known for his kindness in sharing his harvest of the field and stream with friends and acquaintances. He loved the friendly competition of a good card game and regularly hosted a pinochle marathon in his home for years. He became one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1973 and was untiring in his efforts to promote interest in the Bible, particularly its message of hope for planet Earth and lasting peace for mankind. Although unlettered by any school of higher learning he possessed a burning desire to teach. He was glad to share his knowledge and experience as a sportsman to young and old alike. But he came to value accurate knowledge of the Holy Scriptures far more and constantly made it his pursuit. He served as an elder in the Carbondale Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, Finch Hill, and was highly regarded locally as a public speaker on Bible topics and the beneficial application of Scriptural principals. Also surviving are four children: William of Mt. Cobb, Marie of California, Michael of Fleetville and Paul of Greenfield Twp.; three brothers: George of Scranton, Jim of Tunkhannock and Gery of Scranton; a sister: Diane of Greenfield Twp.; nieces, nephews and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, June. A memorial service was held on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 4:00 PM at Fiorelli's, 1501 Main Street, Peckville, PA. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
