William F. Ferrel, age 63, of Carbondale, PA., died Wednesday afternoon, May 4, 2005 at the VNA Hospice @ Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton, PA. following a short battle with colon cancer.
Born January 23, 1942 in Carbondale, PA. He was the son of the late Leland and Marion (Fenner) Ferrel.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carbondale. He was a graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School in Carbondale and also played on its basketball team.
He worked at Hendricks Manufacturing in Carbondale as a sheet metal mechanic for over 20 years and also the Tobyhanna Army Depot for over 5 years.
He was an avid softball player and sports fanatic who knew all the statitics, especially for his favorite football team, the New York Giants.
He was raised in Carbondale but enjoyed spending the summers with his family at Fiddle Lake. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by two daughters: Andrea husband Jason Saam of Uniondale, PA. and Hilary husband Stephen Bretzik of Columbus, GA.; one son: Matthew wife JoAnn Ferrel of Uniondale, PA.; one brother: Robert Ferrel of Taylor, PA.; three grandchildren: Leah Collin Saam and Skyler Ferrel; Nieces Nephews
The funeral was held Saturday, May 7, 2005 at 10:00 am from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, with the Rev. Barbara Snyder, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Carbondale, officiating. Inurnment, Ararat Cemetery, Ararat, PA.
Cremation followed at Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA.
