William P. Farrell, age 85, of Carbondale, PA. died late Friday evening, March 19, 2004 at the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale after a brief illness. His wife was the former Helen R. Liuzzo who died February 20, 2002.
Born June 7, 1918 in Larksville, PA. He was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret Farrell.
He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church and the Knights of Columbus both of Carbondale. He was a 1937 graduate of Larksville High School and an Army veteran having served in World War II.
He worked for 35 years as a sheet metal worker at Tobyhanna Army Depot. He also worked at Sears Roebuck Company and Penn Alley Company in Allentown, PA.
Our Dad loved his family, church and also his Irish heritage. He enjoyed watching Notre Dame Sports. He enjoyed taking and making photos and transferring old music to CDs. He loved watching and talking about politics. His dog Benji, who he adopted from victims invloved in the World Trade Center tragedy, was a great companion to him.
He is survived by two daughters: Mary Helen Swika of Peckville, PA. and Deborah Bott of Dickson City, PA.; four grandchildren: Bob Swika of Peckville, PA., Janelle Benke of Jessup, PA., Holli and Billy Bott both of Dickson City, PA.

He was preceded in death by five sisters: Mary Benner of Larksville, PA., Elizabeth Farrell of Larksville, PA., Margaret Delaney of Plymouth, PA., Ann Purcell of Carbondale, PA. and Ruth Perfetto of Larksville, PA.; two brothers: James Farrell of Larksville, PA. and Leo Farrell of Arizona
The funeral was held Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at 9:00 am from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Charles P. Connor, pastor. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Friends called Monday, March 22, 2004 from 3-8 pm. Pallbearers: Thomas Liuzzo, J.J. Zaccone, Thomas Zaccone, Paul Martin, John McAndrew, Jr., Jack Perfetto, and Jerry Perfetto.
