Obituary

William F. Congdon, 61, of Greenfield Township, PA., died unexpectedly Saturday morning, January 5, 2008 at home after an apparent heart attack. He is survived by his longtime companion Myrtle Kerns. Born April 11, 1946 in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late Clifford and Vivian (Wallace) Congdon. He was a graduate of the Mt. View High School, class of 1964 and was a 20 year Navy veteran having served aboard the USS Ingraham. He employed as an electrician at the Tobyhanna Army Depot for 22 years. He was of the Methodist faith and was a member and past commander of the Elk Mountain VFW Post 8488, Lenox, PA. He also belonged to the Ridge Runners Hunting Camp. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by one son: William A. Congdon of Olyphant, PA.; one daughter: Melessia Congdon of RR, Carbondale, PA.; two sisters: Lois Gumpert of Forest City, PA. and Jean Landhl of Minneapolis, MN.; one brother: Arthur Congdon of Forest City, PA.; two grandchildren: William A. Congdon III. and Caleb Burdge; Several Nieces Nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother: Richard Congdon; one nephew: Richard Congdon II. A memorial service with Military Honors by the Elk Mountain VFW Post 8488 was held Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 11:00 AM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Dundaff Main Streets, Clifford, PA., with the Rev. Arthur Davis, officiating. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale, PA. Cremation took place at the Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA. Friends called Thursday, January 10, 2008 from 10:00 AM till the time of the service.
