Wayne Kenneth O'Brien, 71, Carbondale, PA, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at home after a lengthy illness. Born April 17, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Walter and Roberta Mawry O'Brien. He was a lifelong resident of Brooklyn, NY and had resided in Carbondale for the past seven months. He was a retired union painter in New York. He is survived by his wife Sherry (Hellman) O'Brien of Carbondale, PA; three children: Wendy Hellman of Carbondale, PA, Wayne O'Brien and wife Ann Marie of Brooklyn, NY and Jamieann O'Brien-Lewin and husband Michael of Carbondale, PA; one brother: Ronald O'Brien of New Windsor, NY; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother: Walter O'Brien; two sisters: Doris Lilas and Roberta Mulea. Private cremation arrangements were entrusted to Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
