Warren J. Riechers, age 88, of Lenox Township, PA., died Saturday afternoon, October 13, 2012 at the Allied Skilled Nursing Center, Scranton, PA., after a courageous battle with skin cancer for the last two years. He was the husband of the former Lillian Schlom, who died June 13, 2011. Born September 4, 1924 in Tunkhannock, PA., he was the son of the late Martin Leo and Kate (Frear) Riechers. He spent most of his life in Tunkhannock, PA., where he was a dairy and produce farmer. He was a hard worker who instilled family values into his family. He enjoyed gardening, wood cutting, hunting, ice cream, wine and cider making and loved animals. He was proud of the fact that he lived off his land and grew his own food to survive. He is survived by two sons: James Martin Riechers of Scranton, PA. and Mark Abram Riechers of Easton, PA.; one brother: William Riechers of Kent, WA.; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son: Charles Warren Riechers; one brother: Carl Riechers; two sisters: Jean Coolbaugh and Erma Garey. The funeral was held Friday, October 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA., with Pastor Oleh Kubik, officiating. Interment, Fairview Cemetery, Lake Winola, PA. Pallbearers: James Riechers Sr., Mark Riechers, Sr., James Riechers, Jr., Thomas Davis, Christopher Mercadante and James Magee.
