Walter J. Munson, III., 62, Carbondale, PA., died Wednesday night, May 30, 2012 at home. He was the husband of the former Sonia Smith.
Born January 23, 1950 in Rhinebeck, NY., he was the son of the late Walter J. and Catherine (Vincent) Munson, Jr.
Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a custodian for the Red Hook Central School District in Red Hook, NY. He was of the catholic faith and was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution in Schoharie, NY. and the Thomas Munson Foundation.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and history. He was also a talented bow and arrow maker.
He is survived by one daughter: Elizabeth Castles and husband Timothy of Carbondale, PA.; two sons: Robert and Matthew Munson both of Howes Cave, NY.; two sisters: Margaret Ann Olah of Germantown, NY. and Catherine Colfer of Hudson, NY.; one brother: Robert Coscio of Germantown, NY.; two grandsons: Matthew Munson and Rowan T. Castles; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Timothy Munson and Charles Coscio.
As per his request he was cremated.
A graveside service followed by interment took place Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the Germantown Reformed Cemetery, Germantown, NY.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
