Walter L. DeBaecke, 77, of Kingston, PA, died Sunday, July 12, 2026 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley.

Born August 14, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Frank, Sr. and Violet Catino DeBaecke and brother of the late Frank, Jr. He resided in NEPA, including Dallas and Kingston, for the past 30+ years. Walt was a retired custodian of the Daniel J. Flood Tower. He was a proud Vietnam War-era Navy veteran, having served on the aircraft carriers U.S.S. Independence and U.S.S. Forrestal. Walt was a lifelong Phillies and Eagles fan and enjoyed many hobbies including softball, darts and bowling.

He is survived by his nephews and niece: Andrew and Adam DeBaecke, and April Varano; two step-sons: Ronald and Donald Paczewski; and their respective families; as well as many good friends and neighbors.

A viewing will be held Friday, July 17, 2026 from 5–7 p.m. at the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 N. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA. A funeral service with military honors will be conducted at 7 p.m.
