Obituary

Vito M. Stanco, Jr., 62, of Clifford Township, PA., died Sunday afternoon, March 27, 2011 upon arrival at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale, PA. He is survived by his wife of 42 years the former Karen Ravnikar. Born November 3, 1948 in Scranton, PA., he was the son of the late Vito, Sr. and Anna (Molnar) Stanco. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Prior to his disability, he had been employed in the housekeeping department of Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton for over 30 years. He was fondly called the Mayor of Moses Taylor. Vito was very personable and enjoyed striking up a conversation with anyone he met. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed history and would frequently watch the History Channel. He was also a Minnesota Vikings and Notre Dame fan. He is survived by one daughter: Karen Wademan of Wilkes Barre, PA.; five grandchildren: Jessica Sarti, Nicholas Stanco, Anna Stanco, Jillian Lavor and Michael Wademan; one brother: John Stanco. He was preceded in death by one son: David Stanco. As per his request he was cremated and no services were held. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clifford, PA.
