Virginia J. Freeman age 80, of 184 Washington Street, Carbondale died unexpectedly Friday, March 29, 2002 at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. She was the wife of the late Francis M. (Slim) Freeman who died January 21, 2002. Born September 28, 1921 in Sidney, NY. She was the daughter of the late George and Laura (Fitzgerald) Northup. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Carbondale. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister and will be greatly missed. She enjoyed crocheting. She is survived by one daughter: Donna Huffert of Carbondale, PA.; two sons: Howard Castle of Carbondale, PA. and Fred Castle of Archbald, PA.; two brothers: Jack Northup of Unadilla, NY. and Gerald Northup of Unadilla, NY.; 9 Grandchildren; 21 Great Grandchildren; Nieces Nephews. She was preceded in death by one son: Gerald Castle; three brothers: Earl Northup, Charlie Northup and William Northup; four sisters: Martha Finch, Doris VanLoan, Daisy Reese, and Charlotte Stevens. The funeral was held Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale with Rev. Arthur Davis, pastor of the Asbury United Methodist Church and the Providence United Methodist Church, Scranton, PA. officiating. Interment, Wheeler Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Mount, PA. Viewing was held Monday, April 1, 2002 from 2-4 and 6-9.
