Vernice I. Kilmer, 81, of Nicholson, PA, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at The Gardens at Tunkhannock, Tunkhannock ,PA. She was the wife of Fred T. Kilmer, Sr., who died on May 17, 2015. Born in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Susan White Escott. Vernice was a Christian woman who was generous and always put the needs of others before herself. Her family was her life and they will always remember her as both sweet and kind. At one time she was a volunteer for meals on wheels and played in a local bowling league. She was a member of the Tunkhannock Seventh Day Adventist Church. She is survived by three children: Debbie and Kevin Benedict of Nicholson, PA, Richard Kilmer of Tunkhannock, PA and Shelley and Don Boyle of Scranton, PA; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son: Frederick Kilmer, Jr.; 5 brothers and 4 sisters. The funeral was held Monday, April 24, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA, with Pastor Thomas Cusack, officiating.
