Valedia I. Rushin, age 85, originally from Dickson City, PA., died Saturday morning, February 7, 2009 at Hospice Community Care, Dunmore, PA. She was the wife of the late George Rushin, who died November 2000. Born January 3, 1924 in Scranton, PA., she was the daughter of the late Adam and Sadie (Fuller) Skelding.She was a former member of the Elm Park United Methodist Church, Scranton and was a past matron of the Eastern Star, Scranton.She is survived by two sons: Russell Williams and wife Suzanne of Gouldsboro, PA. and Guy Kenneth Williams and wife Mary of Austin, TX.; three grandchildren: Darin, Megan and Ian Williams; two sisters: Catherine Keene of New Orleans, LA. and Jane Pollard of Florida; several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.A private service was held in the Chapel at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst, PA., by Pastor Margo Tomlinson of the First Presbyterian Church of Carbondale. Interment followed in the veteran's section at Fairview Memorial Park. Pallbearers: Russell Williams, Guy Kenneth Williams, Ian Williams, Jason Jeffry Parise.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, PA.
