Thomas H. Sipress, age 85, of Olyphant, PA. died early Saturday morning, May 3, 2003 at the Mid Valley Hospice Preferred Choice, Peckville, PA. He was preceeded in death by his first wife Mary Kathryn Weese Sipress, who died October 26, 1961 and his second wife Viola May Hartman Hirsch Sipress, who died September 4, 1989.
Born November 18, 1917 in Mishawaka, IN. He was the son of the late Harold and Flossie (Kreiter) Sipress.
He was a member of the Waymart Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Navy. He earned the Victory and Asiatic Pacific Ribbons. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a sheet metal maker and also in the blueprint department on washing machines for the Whirlpool Company for over 20 years. While living in Mishawaka, Indiana and Benton Harbor, Michigan he was a boy scout master.
He enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He also enjoyed visiting the Carbondale Senior Citizens Center. He was big Notre Dame fan.

He is survived by one daughter: Shirley Ann DeMorrow of Simpson, PA.; one son: Kenneth Sipress of Benton Harbor, MI.; two sisters: Phyllis Donica of Osceola, IN. and Lois Stone of South Bend, IN.; one brother: Robert Sipress of Michigan City, IN.; one step-son, James Hirsch of Indiana; two step-daughters: Linda Clark of Florida and Joanne ManWarren of Indiana; 4 Grandchildren; 10 Great Grandchildren; 9 Step Grandchildren; Several Nieces Nephews
He was preceded in death by one son: Frederick E. Sipress; one step-son: Robert Hirsch; one brother: Glenn Sipress
The funeral was held Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at 1:00 pm in the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with the Rev. Leo Mancini, pastor of the Waymart Baptist Church, officiating. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township,PA.
Friends called Tuesday, May 6, 2003 from 6-9 pm and Wednesday, May 7, 2003 from 12-1 pm.
