Thomas J. McBride, Jr., 87, of Forest City, PA. and formerly of Dundaff, PA., died Saturday night, October 25, 2008 at the Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA.
He was the husband of the former Virginia Elliff. They were married August 15, 1943.
Born March 4, 1921 in Pawtucket, RI., he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Agnes (Whittam) McBride, Sr.
He was a graduate of the Thomas Jefferson High School in Elizabeth, NJ. and attended Rutgers University in New Jersey. He had been employed as a chemical operator at Proctor and Gamble in Mehoopany, PA. He was an army veteran of World War II and attended St. Pius X Church in Royal, PA. He was a member of the Tri-County Seniors Association in Forest City.
He is survived by three sons: Richard McBride of Browndale, PA., Gregory McBride of Kingsley, PA. and Barry McBride of Dundaff, PA.; two daughters: Susan Ogle of Roanoke, VA. and Colleen Griffiths of Dundaff, PA.; 15 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren; Several Nieces. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Kathleen McBride. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, October 31, 2008 at 9:30 AM from St. Pius X Church, Route 106, Royal, celebrated by Rev. William D. Campbell, senior priest. Cremation was held at the Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA. Arrangements were under the direction of the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clifford, PA.
