Thomas "Doug" Corrigan, 94, of Carbondale, PA, died Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Creekside Healthcare Center, Carbondale. He was preceded in death by his wife the former, M. Claire Healey who died on April 28, 1977. Born May 15, 1927 in Carbondale, he was the son of the late John and Agnes McDonald Corrigan. As a member of the greatest generation, Doug served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II having been stationed on the convoy ship USS Adirondack. After the war, he obtained his high school diploma from Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. He had been employed as a security guard at Farview State Hospital, Waymart. Doug was an active member of the Cerra-Leo DAV Chapter 98, the Carbondale Memorial VFW Post 7965, the American Legion, Albert H. Crane Post 221 and the Carbondale Memorial Committee. In 2016 he was honored in Carbondale Memorial Park for his service to his country. He was also a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. Doug lived for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Creekside Healthcare Center for their kind and compassionate care provided to Doug during his stay. He is survived by two sons: Thomas F. Corrigan and wife, Jeanne and Jerry Corrigan and wife, Rose all of Carbondale, PA; six grandchildren: Thomas J. Corrigan, Jason Corrigan, Jerry Corrigan, Kelly Walker, Kaitlin Corrigan and Abigail Corrigan; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his great grandson: Carson "Hambone" Corrigan, who died on March 4th; three brothers: John, Joseph and Donald Corrigan; and two sisters: Agnes "Dolly" Cerra and infant Mary. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, March 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, PA, celebrated by Rev. Seth Wasnak, pastor. Entombment with military honors, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Jason Corrigan, Thomas Corrigan, Colin Walker, Donald Corrigan, James Cerra and Robert Penzone.
