Thomas Henry Barrows, Sr., 79, of Harford, PA., died Thursday evening, December 23, 2010 at Mercy Hospice, Scranton, PA., from multiple health complications. Born February 11, 1931 in Lakewood, PA., he was the son of the late Delbert E. and Hazel R. (Myers) Barrows. He grew up in the Gelatt area and attended Thompson High School. He worked at farming and various lumber mills in the area before his retirement. He was a Corporal in the Army and was an avid fisherman and enjoyed watching football and baseball on television. He also enjoyed going to the diner for coffee and talking with friends. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by three sons: Thomas Jr. and wife Karen of Clifford Township, PA., Larry and wife Jessica of Clifford Township, PA. and Karl and wife Jane of Hop Bottom, PA.; two daughters: Deborah and husband Dennis Urso of Taylor, PA. and Sharon Barrows of Clifford Township, PA.; four brothers: James, Lynn and wife Lillian, Martin and wife Diane and Merle and wife Sherry; four sisters: Hazel and husband Fred Howell, Berniece Butler, Barbara Beyer and Patricia and husband Bill Wyckoff; ten grandchildren: Kimberly, Nicole, Joyce, Christopher, Holly, Kelly, Timothy, Kyle, Nathan and Marissa; eleven great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Robin Piasecki; two sisters: Ethel Barrows and Dotha Sistrunk. A memorial service was held Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 5:00 PM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA., with the Rev. Terry Drost, pastor of the Peckville Assembly of God Church, officiating. Inurnment, Gelatt Cemetery, Gelatt, PA. Cremation took place at the Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA. Friends called Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 3:00 PM until service time.
