Teresa A. "Nancy" Bonitz of Carbondale, PA, and formerly of Lebanon Township, NJ, died peacefully on Friday, June 9, 2023 at the Julia Ribaudo Care Center, Lake Ariel, PA, with her family by her side. She was 87 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, William George Bonitz, Sr. on June 12, 2008.

Born June 19, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Catherine Coyle Gleason.

Prior to moving to Carbondale in 2019, Nancy was an active member of St. Joseph's Church in High Bridge, NJ, serving as Eucharistic Minister and President of the Alter Rosary Society. She retired from Yale Material & Handling where she managed Accounts Payable for many years.

Nancy is survived by four children: William George Bonitz, Jr. and wife Julie of Burtonsville, MD, Catherine Hammerstone of Carbondale, PA, Frederick Bonitz of Phillipsburg, NJ, and Karen Doremus and husband, Jeffrey of Carlisle, PA; two grandchildren: Nathan and Mary Hammerstone; three great-grandchildren: Cale, Troy, and Maisie; one brother: Robert Gleason of NJ; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Fels and Catherine Waldele; and a brother: John Gleason.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, PA. Family and friends may visit from 9:00 to 10:00 AM prior to a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, an organization that Nancy loved and supported.
