Sylvia S. Masiuk, age 87, formerly of Clifford Township, PA, died Thursday morning, June 19, 2014 at the Forest City Nursing Home, Forest City, PA. She was the wife of the late Metro Masiuk, who died April 27, 2001. Born April 27, 1927 in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Matthew Max and Mary (Kozlowski) Holzman. Sylvia was the Executive Housekeeper for the Carbondale General Hospital for many years before her retirement, and is a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Hop Bottom. Sylvia dedicated her life to her family and she will be dearly missed. She is survived by two sons: Martin D. Masiuk and wife Tatiana of Millersville, MD and Attorney Joseph M. Masiuk and wife Marianne (Flood) of Feasterville, PA; five grandchildren: Elizabeth Masiuk of Washington, DC, Dr. Natalie Masiuk of Baltimore, MD, M. Douglas Masiuk of Frisco, CO, Nicholas Masiuk of Washington, DC and Aleksei Masiuk of Grand Cayman Islands; two sisters: Chirstle Tarvin of Milton, FL and Maxine Wademan of Apalachin, NY; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister: Emma Mikolon; two brothers: Adolph and Norman Holzman. The funeral was held Monday, June 23, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Grace Lutheran Church, 351 Greenwood Street, Hop Bottom, with Rev. Kim Bode, pastor, officiating. Interment, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford, PA. Pallbearers: Aleksei Masiuk, M. Douglas Masiuk, Craig Wademan and Chris Cikanovich. Friends called Sunday, June 22, 2014, from 7-9 PM at the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA and Monday. June 23, 2014 from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Church.
