IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Steven S.
Galambos
August 22, 1943 – February 17, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Steven Sidney Galambos announces his passing on Monday at the age of 81. Steve was a resident of Clifford Township, PA, and some may have fondly known him by Butch, Redleg or Ace.
Born August 22, 1943 in Chincoteague, VA, he was the son of the late Louis and Loretta Galambos. He graduated from Red Bank High School in New Jersey, and enlisted in the U.S. Army and was proud to have traveled all over and serve his country for 20 years. Steve was a veteran of the Vietnam War who also was stationed with a Pershing missile group in Germany. He retired out of Fort Gordon, Georgia signal school where he enjoyed teaching electronics along with being in command of the base's funeral honors team.
Upon military retirement, he was employed as a personnel manager at Gentex in Carbondale, PA, and then moved onto several different car dealerships, the Cogen Plant in Archbald, PA, and finally as a valet attendant at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton, PA, where he enjoyed passing out Life Savers. He enjoyed sailing, shooting and history along with listening to his favorite music while taking in his view of Elk Mountain.
He will be fondly remembered for his old-fashioned values, generosity, spicy food and a cold Yuengling but most of all as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by two children: Stephanie Warford and husband, Brent, and Louis Galambos and wife, Carrie; four grandchildren: Steven A. Galambos and wife, Elaine, Duane C. Galambos and wife, Valarie, Shelby E. Becker and husband, Matt and Joshua Weeden and wife, Ariel; six great-grandchildren: Jackson, Georgia, Layla, Ethan, Owen and Ember.
Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife: Peggy "Kay" Galambos; a sister: Rita; and a brother: Louis James Galambos.
As per Steve's request he was cremated and services will be held at a future date at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA, where he and Kay will be entombed.
