Steven J. Brainard, 64, of Gibson Township, PA, died Sunday, May 23, 2021 at home after an extended illness. Born August 7, 1956 in Harford, PA, he was the son of the late Clarence "Coog" Brainard and Mildred "Millie" Kaminski Brainard. Steve was a self-employed contractor and a member of the Carpenter's Lehigh Valley Local 600, Bethlehem, PA. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and horseback riding. He also loved a good game of shuffle board and rummy while spending time with his children. Steve was a social member of the Elk Mountain VFW, Post 8488 in Lenox, PA. His fun-loving presence and free spirit will be deeply missed. He is survived by three children: Brittany Brainard and husband, Kenneth Hancock, Jr., Cole Brainard and Taylor Brainard and partner, Michael Walker; three grandchildren: Wyatt, Waylon and Weston Hancock; one sister: Reade Libengood and husband, Bob; two brothers: John Brainard and wife, Jeanette and Frank Brainard and wife, Jane; and several nieces and nephews. Friends called Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA. A committal service and interment followed at the Peck Cemetery, Harford, PA.
