Stephen G. Lynch, 89, of Clifford, PA., died Sunday, April 8, 2007 at Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA. His wife of 65 years is the former Marjorie Baker.
Born and raised in Greenfield Township, PA., he was the youngest and the last surviving member of 12 children born to Andrew and Mary Lynch.
He graduated from Scott Township High School and prior to his retirement, he was the Postmaster of the Clifford Post Office. He was a charter member and past president of the Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company. He also belonged to the Community Rod and Gun Club and was active in the Newton Lake Association having served as a past secretary. At the present time, Steve was a Eucharistic Minister and Senior Acolyte at St. Pius X Church, Royal, PA.
Steve loved working outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by four children: Carolyn Harhut of Greenfield Township, PA., Patricia Mellody of Scranton, PA., Bonnie Tolerico of Nicholson, PA. and Stephen Lynch of National City, CA.; nine grandchildren: Chet Harhut, Patrick Mellody, Kathleen Mellody, Mara Grad, Stephen Mellody, Meredith Mellody, James Tolerico, Maggie Milunic and Matthew Lynch; Several Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Patrick Mellody and a grandson: Stephen Lynch
The funeral was held Thursday, April 12, 2007 at 9:00 AM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home, 102 Dundaff Street, Clifford, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Pius X Church, Route 106, Royal, celebrated by Monsignor Joseph G. Quinn, pastor. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale, PA.
Pallbearers: Patrick and Stephen Mellody, Chet Harhut, James Tolerico, Joseph Grad and David Milunic.
Friends called Wednesday, April 11, 2007 from 4 to 8 PM.
