Obituary

Stella B. Brady, 99, a lifelong resident of Carbondale, PA, died Sunday morning, June 6, 2021 at the Carbondale Nursing Center. Born December 16, 1921 in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna Stecklo Brady. Stella attended Mayfield High School and had been employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry, having retired from the Starlet Dress Factory, Carbondale. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, and the Carbondale Senior Center. She had served as president of the ladies' auxiliary to the South Side Clippers Athletic Association, Carbondale. Stella was one of the longest residents of the South High Rise having resided there since 1990. She was also a former president of the South High Rise Association. She will be fondly remembered as a master party maker and had an outgoing personality that made her everyone's favorite aunt and a friend to everyone. She is survived by her nieces and nephew: Nancy Cerra Staffaroni of Harrisburg, PA, Cindy Brady Rushworth of Carbondale, PA, Diane Cerra Gross of North Carolina and Joseph Brady and wife, Kathy of New Jersey; several great nieces and nephews; and several great-great nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a sister: Mary Cerra; and three brothers: Francis, Joseph, and Eugene Brady. The funeral was held Monday, June 14, 2021 from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4 Morris Place, Carbondale, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, PA, celebrated by Rev. Jeffrey Walsh, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Matthew Staffaroni, David Cerra, Christopher Cerra, Brian Muretic, Bryce Muretic and Brady Muretic. Viewing hours were held Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions were sent to the St. Rose Church Restoration Fund, 6 N.
