Sophie DeCavage age 82, of Forest City died late Sunday evening, August 18, 2002 at the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. She was the wife of John DeCavage, Forest City. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on September 6, 2002. Born August 28, 1919 in Olyphant, PA. She was the daughter of the late Kyril and Matrona (Senich) Skrobak. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was known for her deep love and concern for family and friends. She gave much to her church and the Lenoxville community. She was a member of the Lenoxville United Methodist Church and it's Willing Workers. She was employed for several years by the Mountain View School System as a cafeteria supervisor at the Clifford Elementary School. She savored every minute of her life always with the proper perspective and a good sense of humor. She enjoyed bingo, working on crafts with her husband and vacationing in Las Vegas. She wanted to express her heart felt thanks to the employees of the Forest City Nursing Home who provided superior care and understanding during her last years. She is survived by three sons: Allan DeCavage of Mesa, AZ., Martin DeCavage of Ransom, PA. and John Joseph DeCavage of Harford, PA.; one sister: Mary Thompson of Richland, WA.; 7 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by four brothers: Louis, Mitchell, John and Michael Skrobak; one sister: Ann Trapasso The funeral was held Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at 11:00 am in the Lenoxville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Linda Bryan, Pastor officiating. Interment, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford. Viewing was held Tuesday, August 20, 2002 from 2-4 6-8 at the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home, Dundaff and Main Streets, Clifford, PA.
