Shirley A. Thomas, 82, of Simpson, PA, died Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton, PA. She was the wife of the late John K. "Trigger" Thomas, who died April 25, 1990.
Born November 30, 1935 in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Marion Fermstone Roberts.
Shirley was a 1953 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and after graduation worked at Stephens Brothers Dairy, Carbondale, for 20 years. After the dairy closed, she worked for Revco Drug Store, Eynon, PA, for 19 years before her retirement.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale and its Women's Society. She also worked at many church functions over the years and enjoyed her trips to the casino.
She is survived by her nephew and niece Robert and Irene Thomas of Scott Township, PA, and their children, David and Mary; friends and caregivers: Michael Kresock of Simpson, PA and Diane Kurtz of Greenfield Township, PA.
The funeral was held Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. from the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale, 20 North Church Street, Carbondale, officiated by Pastor Donald Perry. Interment, Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart, PA.
Pallbearers: Robert Thomas, Dale Jennings, Edward Kurtz, Richard Kresock, John Kresock and Brian Kresock.
Friends called Friday, June 15, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. at the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale.
In lieu of flowers, donations were sent to the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale.
