Obituary

Shirley A. Granger, 75, of Archbald, PA, and a former longtime resident of Clifford Township, PA, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Geisinger CMC, Scranton, PA, after courageous battle with cancer.

Born September 22, 1949 at Hahnemann Hospital, Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Franklin L. Granger and the late Jean L. Wallace Conrad. She was the step-daughter of the late Edward Conrad, Jr. and Lillian Granger.

Shirley was a 1967 graduate of the Mountain View High School where she was active in band and chorus and was a foreign exchange student. She always had fond childhood memories of growing up in rural Susquehanna County but especially cherished fishing and ice skating at Acre Lake.

Shirley was an educator for 38 years having taught at Northern Potter School District, Ulysses, PA, Newport Center Town School, Newport Center, VT, and the Mountain View School District, Kingsley, PA. During her many years of teaching, she formed lifelong bonds with her students which she cherished. Shirley had a love of the outdoors and while living in Vermont she was a ski instructor and certified hiking instructor. She loved animals especially her many dogs she raised over the years which brought her much happiness.

Shirley had a charming personality and never met a stranger that did not become a friend. Her home and pool were a gathering place for many at both her Clifford and Archbald home. During her retirement, she was active as the director of the Clifford Township Historical Society. She wintered in Daytona Beach and time spent at the beach was a favorite. She always looked forward to the enjoyment of spending time with family and friends especially game nights and their many travel adventures.

Special thanks to all family and friends who provided comfort to Shirley during her illness.

She is survived by a brother: Larry Granger and wife, Cindy of Plymouth, MI; a step-sister: Yvonne Taylor and husband, Robert of Kingsley, PA; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many close friends.

As per Shirley's request, no services will be held.

Arrangements by Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clifford, PA.
