Obituary

Sharon N. Lokuta, 63, of Dupont, PA, and formerly of New Haven, IN, was called home on April 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on December 15, 1962, to Joan (Bellomo) Lokuta and the late Frederick P. Lokuta.

Sharon followed in her father’s footsteps, attending the University of Scranton, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration / Public Affairs in 1985.

She began her professional career at United Penn Bank as a Secondary Market Representative and also served as an Assistant Manager and Underwriter for Northwest Mortgage Corporation. She later joined Sallie Mae, where she worked as a supervisor before continuing her career at Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Sharon joined Indiana Tech in 2007 as an Associate Registrar, was promoted to Director of Operations in 2009, and ultimately served as Associate Vice President of Operations.

A dedicated and highly respected professional, Sharon was known for her strong work ethic, her ability to manage multiple responsibilities with ease, and her leadership marked by care and grace. She was recognized throughout her career with numerous honors, including the Outstanding Sallie Mae Employee Award, multiple Employee of the Month awards, and nominations for the Excellence Award. At Indiana Tech, she received the TechSpirit, Tech Excellence, and Bridge Builder awards.

Sharon met the love of her life, Nicole L. Landrum (“Nicci”), in April 2005. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering partnership. They shared 18 years in Indiana before returning to Sharon’s hometown of Dupont in 2023. They were united in marriage in February 2020.

Sharon had a deep love for sports, especially the New York Yankees, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State. She had a love for all-things history, all-things weather, and all-things animals. Above all, Sharon’s greatest joy was her family. Whether on Rehoboth Beach family vacations, at the family cabin, at holiday meals, or at all of the “just because” gatherings, she cherished every moment spent together. She was fiercely loyal, deeply devoted, and the kind of person who would do anything for those she loved. Known for her sharp wit, unmatched sense of humor and incredible taste in music, Sharon brought laughter and joy wherever she went. She embodied the Beatles lyric, “and in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make.”

She will be remembered as a pillar of her family: admired, respected, and deeply loved. She will be profoundly missed.

Sharon is survived by her beloved wife, Nicci Landrum, of Dupont and formerly of New Haven and Decatur, IN; her mother, Joan Lokuta (John Samony), of Dupont; her siblings, Michael Lokuta (Kathy Sweeney) of Dupont and Jennifer “Lily” (Dave) Maslowski of Duryea; her mother-in-law, Marcia Landrum, and brother-in-law, Robert Landrum, both of Decatur, IN; and her sisters-in-law, Linda Lokuta and Cheryl Lokuta, both of Dupont.

She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, who were like her own children: Michael (Katy)

Lokuta, Jarryd (Jill) Lokuta, Lauren (Jeff) Janoski, Frederick J. (Nicole) Lokuta, Camaryn

(Justen) Lokuta-Bizik, Ethan Maslowski, Vanessa Maslowski, all of the Pittston area; Jackie Gentis of Philadelphia; and Regan and Coltan Landrum of Decatur, IN. She is further survived by many great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and her beloved cat, Boomies.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frederick P. Lokuta; her brother, Frederick C. Lokuta; her sister, Kimberly Ann Lokuta; and her father-in-law, Roger Landrum.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston, PA, with Monsignor John J. Sempa, pastor, officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will be at a later date. A Celebration of Life will be held this summer; details will be announced.

In accordance with Sharon’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charities close to her heart: Saint Jude’s Children's Hospital or Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.

The family would like to thank her doctors and 24-hour care aids who were absolutely incredible. They all made her feel seen and heard and they prioritized her care in such a beautiful way.
