Serafine A. "Sar" Tolerico, 65, of Carbondale, PA, died Friday morning, November 18, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, PA, after a lengthy battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He is survived by his wife, the former Karen A. Littman. They were married on December 31, 1998.
Born May 7, 1957 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Frank A. and Elizabeth A. Ferentine Tolerico.
Sar was a 1976 graduate of Carbondale Area High School and established Sar's Body Shop in 1980. With hard work and determination, he made Sar's Body Shop one of the area's premier auto repair facilities. He was proud of his vast collection of classic cars. His passion was Mopar muscle cars and he had an immense knowledge of them. Sar was a member of the Coal Cracker Cruisers and a big fan of everything Disney. He always looked forward to the many family trips to Disney World.
Karen, Taryn and Karli would like to thank their family and many friends for all of the support and love shown to them during the past couple years of Sar's illness. Your daily visits and thoughtful well wishes made their long days more bearable. A special thank you is also extended to Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their kind and compassionate care shown to Sar in his final days.
He is survived by two daughters: Taryn and Karli Tolerico both of Carbondale, PA; a brother: Jerry Tolerico and wife, Mary Rose of Clifford Township, PA; sister-in-law: Helen Tolerico of Archbald, PA, brother-in-law: Joseph Littman of Luzerne, PA, sister-in-law: Susan Nichols of Mount Laurel, NJ; nieces and nephews: Lisa Rovinsky and husband, Peter and their children, Zachary, Mia and Noah; Kyle, Brandon and Nicole Littman, Trevi and Niko Nichols; an aunt: Joanne Fabiano of Carbondale, PA; and several cousins.
He was also preceded in death by a brother: Frank A. Tolerico, Jr.
The funeral was held Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, PA, celebrated by Rev. Joseph Mosley, senior priest. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Pallbearers: Jerry Tolerico, John Tolerico, Ermond Santanna, Joseph Cassaro, Joseph Graziano, Patrick Trichilo and James Renter.
Viewing hours were held Monday, November 21, 2022 from 4-7 p.m.
