Sarah M. Sally Russo, 78, Carbondale Township, PA., died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Geisinger-CMC, Scranton, PA. She was the wife of Frank J. Russo who died December 1, 1991. Born October 27, 1935 in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ruth Goodwin Eidinger. She was a 1955 graduate of the Fell Township High School in Simpson, PA and had been employed at Waymart Knitwear, Waymart, PA, prior to her retirement. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Carbondale and was a lifetime member of the Whites Crossing Volunteer Fire Company, where she served as a past firefighter, treasurer and auxiliary member. She also served as a former Democratic Majority Inspector. She was a devoted reader and Penn State football fan. Her favorite football player was Tom Prawdzik. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family. She was an extremely proud grandmother who never missed a t-ball, little league, varsity and legion baseball game or football game that her grandchildren played. The family gives special thanks to Dr. Sanchez, the ICU nurses and hospice staff at Geisinger-CMC for the compassionate care shown to Sally during her brief illness. She is survived by three children: Sandra Russo of Carbondale Township, PA; Tony Russo and wife Chris of Carbondale, PA and David Russo and wife Sheila of Carbondale Township, PA; grandchildren: Anthony Russo and fiancee Kori Jenkins of Jermyn, PA, Andrew Russo of Carbondale, PA, Katie, Emily and Kyle Delmarter of Carbondale Township, PA; two great granddaughters: Skylar and Madelyn; one brother: Edward T. Eidinger and wife Cecelia of Downey, CA; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister: Lois Ann Lapka: one brother: Robert Eidinger. The funeral was held Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 10:30 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with services at 11:00 AM in the First Presbyterian Church, 76 Salem Avenue, Carbondale, with Rev. Wayne Wolfe, officiating. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Cory Lapka, John Gorel, Cody Coleman, Joseph Fobes, Stanley Jurkowski and Kyle Delmarter. Honor guard and fire truck escort provided by the Whites Crossing Volunteer Fire Company. Aerial flag salute provided by the Crystal Fire Company and the Greenfield Township Volunteer Fire Company.
