With heartful sadness her family and friends regret the passing of Sarah Grace Mancuso, 78, of Carbondale, PA, who died Tuesday morning, May 2, 2023 at Allied Services Hospice, Scranton, PA, after an illness.
Born December 24, 1944 in Carbondale, PA, she was daughter of the late Louis and Sarah Talerico Mancuso and was a 1963 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed at the Gentex Corporation, Simpson, PA, and was also a nurse's aide having worked at the Forest City Nursing Home and later private duty. Sarah Grace enjoyed spending time fishing and playing sports, especially bowling.
She was a devout Roman Catholic who believed in the power of prayer. Sarah Grace was a member and Eucharistic Minister at St. Pius X Church, Royal, PA, and a former member and Eucharistic Minister at St. Rose of Lima and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parishes, Carbondale. She was an active member of the Sisters of Mercy Association which was a very important part of her life.
Sarah Grace will be fondly remembered for her generous spirit, her loving and kind personality and her compassion to others.
She is survived by one brother: Louis Mancuso, Jr. and wife, Gert of Jessup, PA; a nephew: Louis Mancuso of Jessup, PA; great-niece: Jenna Mancuso of Jermyn, PA; several cousins including, Delores Cotter; numerous friends, including Sister Kathleen Smith, RSM. and Sr. Therese Marques, RSM.
She was also preceded in death by a nephew: Anthony Mancuso.
The funeral was held Friday, May 5, 2023 from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, Royal, PA, celebrated by Rev. Michael Kirwin, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Pallbearers: Joseph Scalzo, David Scalzo, Allen Rossney, Damian Rossney, Jody Kyle and Brian Kyle.
Viewing hours were held Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 4-6 p.m.
