Obituary

Santo Smiler Bilotta, 94, formerly of 42nd Street, Carbondale, PA., died Thursday night, November 20, 2008 at the Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart, PA. after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the former Rose Tolerico. They had been married 57 years.Born March 19, 1914 in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late Serafine and Justine Bilotta. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Carbondale and was an Army veteran of World War II. He had been employed as a security guard at Farview State Hospital in Waymart. He was a former member of the Moxie Club and enjoyed spending time with his friend's socializing and playing cards at the former pool room on Fallbrook Street in Carbondale. He is survived by one son: Serafine Bilotta and wife Mary Ann of Waymart, PA.; two sisters: Helen Bilotta of Carbondale, PA., and Jennie Czarnecki of South Hampton, NJ.; three grandchildren: Marissa, David Joseph Bilotta; several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by an infant son: Joseph Bilotta; two brothers: Joseph and Carlo Bilotta; five Sisters: Mary Graziano, Rose Scavo, Connie Cerra, Thomasina Falbo and Theresa Zelinski.The funeral was held Monday, November 24, 2008 at 9:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale., celebrated by Rev. Russell E. Motsay, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Carmine Carney Tolerico, Richard Tolerico, Anthony Tolerico, Steven Tolerico, Carl Tolerico and William Boyle.Friends called Sunday, November 23, 2008 from 5-8 PM.
