Obituary

Sandra K. Kuhn, 62, of Forest City, PA., died Thursday night, May 26, 2011 at the VNA Hospice Unit at Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA.. She is survived by her husband Timothy Teddy Kuhn. Born October 31, 1948 in Aberdeen, MD., she was the daughter of the late John Freytag and the late Roberta Nelson Freytag Anderson. Sandy spent her early years in New York City and relocated to Jersey City, NJ. as a child where she graduated as a math honors student from Ferris High School. She had been employed as a controller for Progress Printing in Jersey City. She and her husband later relocated to Palmdale, California where she had been employed as the controller for Bosola Manufacturing. They later settled in Carbondale where she attained her beautician's license and operated Sandy's Head to Toe Salon. She was a recent member of the Bethel A.M.E. Church, Scranton. She was a former Cub Scout master for Troop 475, Jersey City as well as an assistant scout master and commissioner in the Boy Scouts. She is survived by one son: Richard Engroff, Jr. of Forest City, PA.; five daughters: Robin A. Smith of Scranton, PA., Tamara Stephens of Forest City, PA., Kelly Rodriguez of Jersey City, NJ., Avaline Chiaro of Carbondale, PA. and Cathy Dobbins of Jersey City, NJ.; two sisters: Donna Valentin of Simpson, PA. and Alice Masa of Jersey City, NJ.; two brothers: Bruce Anderson of Scranton, PA. and Ronald Anderson of Simpson, PA.; 9 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son: Timothy Michael Kuhn; one sister: Laurie Mornick. The funeral was held Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 10:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Rev. Dr. Darlene Jenkins, pastor of the Bethel A.M.E. Church, Scranton, officiating. Interment, Sandy Banks Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Friends called Wednesday, June 1, 2011 from 2-4 7-9 PM. Pallbearers: Shawn Borosky, Marc Canzano, Emilio Guzman, Tadd Haney, Wilfriedo Valentin and William E. Purnell.
