Sandra "Sandy" Granick, 64, of Simpson, PA, died Saturday, May 20, 2023 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born September 11, 1958 in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Dorothy Glanville Opeil and was a graduate of Mountain View High School, Kingsley, PA. She worked for the former Clifford Farm Market and for the past 14 years at Weis Market in Carbondale, where she was lead manager of their beer and wine store.

Sandy had a strong work ethic and was a dedicated employee who rarely missed a day of work. She made countless friendships over the years with her co-workers. Her greatest joy in life was her devotion to her family. She cherished the time spent at family get togethers, especially the cook out that her children hosted for her this past Mother's Day.

She is survived by three children: Lisa Granick Mudge and husband, Reuben of Susquehanna, PA; Andrew Granick and husband, Ryan Taylor of Montrose, PA, and Matt Granick of Herrick Center, PA; a step-son: William Granick and wife, Donna of Nesquehoning, PA; two grandchildren: Avy and Justice Mudge; and a great-granddaughter: Josephine Vroman.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Ann Opeil and infant Joann; a step- son: Jonathan Granick; and her longtime companion: Bob Schiffer.

The funeral was held Friday, May 26, 2023 from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. from St. Pius X Church, Royal, PA, celebrated by Rev. Michael Kirwin, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.

Pallbearers: Matt Granick, Andrew Granick, Lisa Mudge, Avy Mudge, Justice Mudge and Reuben Mudge.

Viewing hours were held Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 5-8 p.m.
