Obituary

Samuel A. Maida, 78, of Haverford, PA. and formerly of Carbondale, PA., went home to be with the Lord on Christmas evening, December 25, 2011 at the Bryn Mawr Hospital, Bryn Mawr, PA. His wife is the former Suzanne Kemel. Born October 20, 1933 in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late Michael and Rose (Poletto) Maida. He was a graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and was a veteran of the Air Force. He was a cook and worked for Kips Deli Restaurant for 30 years in Delaware County and the Country Squire Diner for 12 years in Broomall, PA. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Ardmore VFW Post 853, Ardmore, PA. He was very active in the PALM Senior Center, Ardmore. He is survived by one brother: Jerry Maida and wife Nancy of Carbondale, PA.; one sister: Minnie Gillette and husband Robert of Waymart, PA.; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The funeral was held Friday, December 30, 2011 at 9:30 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Russell E. Motsay, pastor. Interment with military honors, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Jerome Maida, Jr., Matthew Maida, Michael Maida, Michael Burney, David Burney and Michael Burney, Jr. Friends called Thursday, December 29, 2011 from 4-8 PM. Mass 10:00 am Friday, December 30, 2011 Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale, PA 15 Fallbrook Street Carbondale, Pennsylvania, United States
