Salvatore S. Santacroce, age 76, of Carbondale, PA. and formerly of Brentwood, NY., died Sunday morning, January 10, 2010 at the Osprey Ridge Health Care Center, Carbondale. He was the husband of the late Joan A. Nelson, who died March 12, 2006.
Born September 13, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY., he was the son of the late Sebastian and Concetta (Spatacino) Santacroce.
He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and resided most of his life on Long Island, NY. Prior to his retirement, he was a self employed barber for many years.
He was a very loving and caring husband, father and grandfather and he will be deeply missed by his family.
He is survived by three daughters: Connie Donatone of Islip, NY., Joanne Farley of Carbondale, PA. and Kathleen Nichols of Carbondale, PA.; two sons: Joseph Santacroce of East Islip, NY. and Frank Santacroce of North Carolina; two brothers: Frank and Mario Santacroce both of Florida; 12 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister: Lucy Rooney.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, January 15, 2010 at 10:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. William D. Campbell, senior priest. Cremation took place at the Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale.
