Ruth M. Kennedy, 93, of Kingsley, PA, died Sunday, March 12, 2017 at the Forest City Nursing Home, Forest City, PA. Her husband, John J. Kennedy died on June 8, 2000. Born November 2, 1923 in West Pittston, PA, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Elizabeth Neat Atwater. Ruth was a graduate of West Pittston High School and became a licensed practical nurse where she worked at several nursing homes for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. She was a member of the Kingsley United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening with her husband. She is survived by three daughters: Carol Wood of Sturgeon Bay, WI, Nancy Stever and husband Gary of Kingsley, PA and Susan Altus and husband Jerry of Philadelphia, PA; five grandchildren: Jeffrey and David Wood, Garrett Stever, Megan Cuccherini and Nathan Altus; four great grandchildren: Douglas and Henry Cuccherini, Jacob Stewart and Owen Stever; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son: James Drew Kennedy; one brother: Erwin Atwater; two sisters: Marian Glatz and Eleanor Cool. Private funeral arrangements were held at the convenience of the family. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clifford, PA.
