Ruth E. Austin, 87, formerly of Bayonne, NJ, died Sunday, October 5, 2025 at the Forest City Nursing Home, Forest City, PA.

Born in New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late William and Emily (Van Leuven) Meuse.

Prior to her retirement, Ruth was employed as a shipping and receiving clerk for Intermodal Principles, Secaucus, NJ. Ruth lived a simple yet beautiful life, one filled with laughter, kindness, and endless cups of tea. She found joy in the little things, good conversation, a cozy chair, and the company of the people she loved most. Known for her gentle soul and easy smile, she had a way of making everyone feel at home.

She had a sweet tooth like no other and believed ice cream could absolutely be a proper dinner. Whether she was sharing a bowl with her grandkids or enjoying it on her own, it always came with a smile. Her love for Kenny Rogers was unmatched, his songs were often the soundtrack to her quiet evenings and cherished memories.

Ruth's life was simple, but her love was profound. She will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her, and her warmth will live on in the hearts she touched.

She is survived by two daughters: Karen Cecere and husband, Robert, and Nora Decker; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by her two husbands: Dennis Decker and Ronald Austin; two daughters: Patricia Decker Wilson and Denise Decker; and a sister: Grace Mazeuski.

Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clifford, PA.
