Russell P. "Russ" Williams, 67, of Gouldsboro, PA, died Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the VA Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, PA, after a courageous battle with ALS. His wife is the former Suzanne Beeby. They recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. Born in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late George and Valedia Skelding Rushin. Russ was a veteran of the Army having served during the Vietnam War. Afterwords, he worked for the Department of Environmental Resources as an environmental consultant. He joined the engineering firm of RKR Hess in East Stroudsburg, PA and worked there for many years before starting his own consulting firm, RWMS and Associates. He served as the sewage enforcement officer for Lehigh and Clifton Township and was a member of the Lehigh Township Planning Commission. Russ enjoyed golf to the fullest, playing in many tournaments. He also loved music and mowing his lawn never without his martini beaker in hand and a smile on his face. He also loved a good debate about local and national politics and sports. He is survived by a son: Ian Williams and wife Tiegan; a granddaughter: Clara Rose; a brother: Guy Kenneth Williams and wife Mary of Austin, TX; a niece and nephew: Megan and Darrin; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Rainelle and Robert Ferri; nephews: Jared Ferri and wife Jillian and Jordan Ferri and wife Jillian; great nephews: Jacob, Logan and Carter Ferri. One of Russ's greatest joys in life was when his son Ian arrived on New Years Eve. Ian and his dad enjoyed many happy moments on the Buck Hill Golf Course. Russ would be very proud of Ian who during this difficult time has stepped up and became a rock for his mother. As per his request there will be no services. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
