Russell R. Curtis, 67, a lifetime resident of Curtis Valley, PA, died Saturday, October 1, 2022 at home. He is survived by his wife, the former Janet Marie Collins. They were married on September 7, 1985.

Born April 26, 1955 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth Houman Curtis.

Russ was a 1973 graduate of Western Wayne High School where he was inducted into the Wayne County Sports Hall of Fame for baseball, basketball and bowling. He was a 1000-point scorer in basketball and bowled two 300 games. He retired after 27 years from PennDot and was currently a Clinton Township Supervisor for the past six years.

Russ played in the Wayne County Softball League for over 40 years and was a member of the Browndale Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his trips to Lake Ontario on his boat he named "Almost Heaven". He enjoyed working the family farm his entire life but most of all spending time with his family and friends.

He is also survived by five children: John V. Bortree, Michele Lee Bortree Koelnner and husband, Greg, Lisa Marie Glosenger, Renee Lynn Curtis and companion, Richard Whitelavich and Tony Joseph Curtis and wife, Carly; eight grandchildren: Heidi Strein, Eric Swendsen, Tiffany and Timothy Glosenger, Miranda and Alexia Barr, Declan and Fiona Granville; nine brothers and sisters: Billy, Tommy, Jimmy, Ronnie, Jean, Ruth, Margie, Isabelle and Faith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a niece: Tiffany Curtis and two aunts: Doris Howell and Joyce Vanburg.

A viewing was held Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 4-8 p.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from the Clinton Center Baptist Church, Waymart, PA, with Pastor Cal Wiggins, officiating. Interment will follow at the Clinton Center Cemetery, Waymart, PA.
