Russell W. Ashby, age 82, a resident of the Forest City Nursing Home, Forest City, PA. and formerly of Carbondale, PA. died Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. Born April 17, 1921 in Carbondale, PA. He was the son of the late James and Carrie (Roegner) Ashby. He was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed watching golf on television. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army as a Corporal. He is survived by one sister: Marie Ort of Warren, PA.; Several Nieces Nephews He was preceded in death by two brothers: Donald Ashby and Robert Ashby A graveside service was held Friday, October 3, 2003 at 1:00 pm in the Honesdale Cemetery, Honesdale, PA. with the Rev. Barbara Snyder, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale, officiating. Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, assisted the family with the funeral arrangements.
