Rosemary "Spushy" Diano McConnell, a lifelong resident of Carbondale, PA, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, March 9, 2025. Leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion to her family.
Born in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Rose Colachino Diano and was a graduate of Mayfield High School. Widowed at a young age, she dedicated her life to raising her two sons ensuring they were surrounded by love and support.
Rosemary was a familiar and beloved presence in Carbondale, often seen walking downtown, sitting at the park and sharing warm conversations at Pinky's Restaurant. She found joy in simple pleasures, especially family get togethers, playing bingo, and saying the rosary. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of her kindness, resilience and unwavering love.
The family thanks the staff at the Carbondale Nursing Home for the care that was given to Rosemary.
She is survived by her two sons: Michael of Carbondale, PA, and Al and wife, Deanna of Olyphant, PA; her cherished grandchildren: A.J. and Jason; and her great-grandchildren: Lucas and Alex; a sister: Josephine Catanzaro of Carbondale, PA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband: Albert McConnell; a brother: Joseph Diano; a step-brother: Dominick Bruno; and a step-sister: Dolly Tanana.
The funeral was held Thursday, March 13, 2025 from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, PA, celebrated by Rev. Seth Wasnock, pastor. Interment, Prospect Hill Cemetery, Peckville, PA.
Pallbearers: A.J. McConnell, Jason McConnell, Anthony Catanzaro, David Catanzaro, Ronald Malinchak and Sherwood Miller.
Viewing hours were held Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 4-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor her memory by sharing kindness with those around you, just as she always did.
