Rosella Mae Tomaine, 87, of Carbondale, PA, died Monday, October 19, 2015 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, PA, after a brief illness. She was the wife of Joseph "Whitey" Tomaine who died October 10, 1973. Born May 7, 1928 in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late James and Jennie Parise Mancuso. Rosella was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and continued her education in business school. She had been employed for over 39 years as the secretary to the principal at Carbondale Area High School. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. Rosella's grandchildren were her pride and joy and she was very proud of their accomplishments. She enjoyed going to the casino with her daughter and spending weekends at Pettinato's Restaurant with her family. She is survived by a daughter: Jennifer Smedley and husband Gary of Carbondale; two grandchildren: Dr. Gary Michael Smedley and Dr. Jacinta Ann Smedley both of Carbondale; nieces and nephews: James Mancuso and wife Doreen, Pierre Mancuso and wife Jennifer, Jacinta Koerper and husband Ted, John Molinaro, Joanne Matusinski, Thomas Mendicino, Donna Dobrowski, Robert Tomaine, David Tomaine and Nancy Osborne; several great nieces and nephews, many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother: Frank T. Mancuso and wife Angela. The funeral was held Friday, October 23, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. John C. O'Bell, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Gary Michael Smedley, James Mancuso, Pierre Mancuso, Michael Greto, Ted Koerper, John Molinaro, Donald Mancuso and Arthur Miley.
