Rosella Granville, age 98, of Carbondale, PA., died Wednesday morning, December 14, 2011 at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. She was the wife of the late Earl Granville who died in 1971. Born September 4, 1913 in Simpson, PA., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Richards) Fortuner. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. She worked along side her husband at their bar, Earl's, in Mayfield, PA., where she cooked and cleaned. Her greatest joy in life was taking care of her very large family. The family would like to thank the staff at the Marian Community Hospital and Southern Care Hospice, especially Dawn, Pastor John, Mary, Karen, Kathy White and Jeanette Quinn for all of their kindness and wonderful care to their mom. She is survived by seven daughters: Elizabeth Opalka, Ann Barnowski and husband Sam, Rose Greene and husband Robert, Mary Roche and husband James, Beatrice Okrasinski and husband Lee, Cathy Ball and husband PJ and Florence Palmiero; six sons: Earl Granville and wife Kay, Paul Granville and wife Barbara, Claude Granville and wife Judy, Alwin Granville, Harry Granville, Philip Granville and wife Cathy; 49 grandchildren; 67 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; one brother: Albert Fortuner; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons: Joseph and James Granville; five grandchildren: Joseph Granville, Deborah Novabilski, SSG Joseph Granville, Earl Barnowski and Michael Roche; three brothers: Joseph, James and Michael Fortuner; four sisters: Marie Leo, Catherine Santanna, Florence Russin and Beatrice Carden. The funeral was held Saturday, December 17, 2011, at 10:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Monsignor David L. Tressler, pastor and Deacon Edward Casey. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township. Pallbearers: David Opalka, Thomas Opalka, Greg Opalka, James Granville, John Granville and Christopher Granville. Friends called Friday, December 16, 2011, from 4-8 PM.
