Obituary

Rose Zabrowski, 87, of Greenfield Township, PA., died Thursday morning, May 2, 2013 at Geisinger-Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA. She was the wife of Walter Zabrowski, Sr. They were married on June 26, 1948. Born January 1, 1926 in Mayfield, PA., she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Telep Hameza. She was a graduate of the Greenfield Township High School and prior to her retirement she had been employed for 30 years in the spring division at Sandvik Steel, South Abington Township, PA. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Mayfield. She was a lifetime member of the ladies auxiliary of the Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company, the ladies auxiliary of VFW Post 7251, Throop, PA. and the ladies auxiliary of the Greenfield Township Fire Company. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed sharing the vegetables from her garden with family and friends. Rose was an excellent baker who made delicious pies. She enjoyed walking and exercise and remained active up until her most recent illness. She was always kind to others and had a beautiful smile. She was always the first to welcome any new neighbors with either some home baked treats or some vegetables from her garden. The family would like to send a very special thank you to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart especially, Lisa Molinaro and Melissa Smith for their kind and compassionate care given to Rose and her family. She is survived by one daughter: Carole McAndrew of Clarks Summit, PA.; two sons: Ronald Zabrowski, Sr. and wife Ann of Greenfield Township, PA. and Walter Zabrowski, Jr. and wife Mary Ellen of Montdale, PA.; five grandsons: Ronald Zabrowski, Jr. and wife Melissa, Jason Zabrowski and wife Elizabeth, Walter Zabrowski, III., Daniel Zabrowski and Bryan Zabrowski; 4 great grandchildren: Ronald, III., Christopher, Katie and Evan Zabrowski; one sister: Irene Tardosky of Chambersburg, PA.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister: Helen Wells; two brothers: William and Nicholas Hameza. The funeral was held Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 11:30 AM from St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Cathedral, 706 Hill Street, Mayfield, celebrated by the Very Reverend Mitered Archpriest John Sorochka, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Daniel Zabrowski, Walter Zabrowski, III., Bryan Zabrowski, Jason Zabrowski, Ronald Zabrowski, Jr. and Ronald Zabrowski, III - all grandsons. Friends called Monday, May 6, 2013 from 5-9 PM at the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA. Parastas was held Monday at 7:00 PM.
