Rose M. Hoffman, age 85, a lifelong resident of Old Forge, PA., died early Saturday morning, January 19, 2013 at Hospice Community Care, Dunmore, PA. She was the wife of the late Paul M. Hoffman who died December 27, 1996.
Born December 9, 1927 in Old Forge, PA., she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Theresa (Sogga) Casella.
Rose worked for many years at Rohr Lingerie Incorporated, Old Forge before her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church, Duryea and active in many church functions.
She was an avid Yankees and Steelers fan. She also enjoyed her trips to the casino, cooking, bingo and was a caregiver to many family members and friends. Her greatest joy was her love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she was all very proud of.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jack Nash and staff at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville and Hospice Community Care in Dunmore for their wonderful care during her stay.
She is survived by four daughters: Christine Sworen and husband John of Dickson City, PA., Terry Lettieri and husband Michael of Old Forge, PA., Paula Schmidt and husband Joe of Old Forge, PA. and Andrea Pilosi and husband Joseph of Old Forge, PA.; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters: Louise Reviello and husband Peter of Old Forge, PA. and Sophia Genell and husband Charles of Old Forge, PA.; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six brothers: Vito, John, Joseph, Sandy, Pat and Fiore Casella.
The funeral was held Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 9:30 AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc. 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with mass at 10:00 AM in St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church, 200 Stephenson Street, Duryea, PA., celebrated by Father Carmen Bolock, pastor. A morning prayer service was held at 9:15 AM at the funeral home. Interment, parish cemetery, Duryea, PA.
Pallbearers were her grandsons: Paul Schmidt, Robbie Schmidt, John Sworen, Joseph Pilosi, Anthony Lettieri and Michael Lettieri.
Friends called Monday, January 21, 2013 from 5-8 PM. The wake prayer service was held at 7:15 PM.
Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. Carbondale, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were sent to St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church, 200 Stephenson Street, Duryea, PA 18642.
