Rose Ann M. Cassaro, 71, of Carbondale, PA, died Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Carbondale Nursing and Rehab Center, Carbondale. She was the wife of Patrick A. Cassaro, Jr. They were married on June 22, 1968. Born June 9, 1943 in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Frances Komantowskas Dobishinsky. Rose Ann was a native of Mayfield and graduated from Mayfield High School and St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, Carbondale. She was a registered nurse and worked at St. Joseph's Hospital for many years as the obstetrics nursing supervisor. She later retired from the Gino Merli Veterans Center in Scranton where she was a nursing supervisor for over 10 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a volunteer for Area P Special Olympics and The Arc of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Rose Ann was truly a special person who selflessly put everyone else's needs before her own. She was the first person to be sought out for guidance and advice by many family members and friends. Her motto was simple: family always comes first. Over the years, she was a caregiver to her mother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, aunt and uncle. The family would like to express their thanks to the nurses and staff of the fourth floor at Geisinger-CMC and the Carbondale Nursing and Rehab Center as well as, the Cottage Hose Ambulance Corps for their kind and compassionate care to Rose Ann and her family. She is survived by a daughter: Lei Ann Cassaro at home; a sister: Carol Lee Dobishinsky of Mayfield, PA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-laws: Donna Dobishinsky of Hamlin, PA, Sam, Joseph and Carol Cassaro all of Florida; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son: Patrick A. Cassaro, III., a brother: Gerald Dobishinsky; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Partick and Antoinette Cassaro. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. John C. O'Bell, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Friends called Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the church. Arrangements were entrusted to the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. of Carbondale, PA.
