Rose M. Cardamone, 89, formerly of Pike Street, Carbondale, PA., died Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the Carbondale Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late John J. Cardamone, Sr. who died March 5, 2008. They had been married 63 years. Born April 9, 1921 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Angelina (Perry) Vadala. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Carbondale. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was proud of her family. She took great pride in her garden and home and enjoyed being outdoors. The family expresses their gratitude for the care provided by the devoted staff of the Carbondale Nursing Home and Home Health Hospice. She is survived by two sons: John Cardamone, Jr. and wife Joyce of Henderson, NV. and Eugene Cardamone and wife Sharon of Jermyn, PA.; one daughter: Carol Smith and husband Raymond of Browndale, PA.; one brother: Patrick Vadella of Carbondale, PA.; five grandsons: John E. Cardamone, Joseph Smith, Jeremy Yadlosky, Eugene Cardamone and David Smith; five granddaughters: Laurie Cardamone, Christina Thornton, Nicole Bridgen, Sharon Cardamone and Quantalyse Smith; three great grandsons: John Z., John and Christopher; four great granddaughters: Soren, Emily, Maya and Isabella; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two daughters: Ann Marie and Roseann Cardamone; one granddaughter: Angel Cardamone; two sisters: Philomena Caines and Marie Vadala. The funeral was held Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 10:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. William D. Campbell, senior priest. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Eugene Cardamone, Joseph Smith, David Smith, William Thornton, Jeremy Yadloski, Joseph Vadella and John Zachary Cardamone. Friends called Tuesday, May 11, 2010 from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations were made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
