Roger J. Lewis, age 52, of Clifford Township, PA, died late Friday evening, April 9, 2010, at the Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA. Born July 15, 1957 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Gardner and Marie (Griffiths) Lewis. Roger was a devoted employee of Walczak Lumber Company, Clifford, for over 25 years. He will always be remembered as a faithful helper and a teacher. Whether you needed to fix a broken truck or tractor, or just needed a hand with a project, Roger was always willing to assist. Often, the more you needed his help, the less likely he was to accept compensation. He always gave 100% and never quit until the job was done. He was a student of the old timers and saw it as his duty to teach the younger generation all he had learned along the way. He was a storyteller who could narrate a flawless workingman's history of seemingly 100 years of Clifford's history. Above all else, he was a good man and a better friend to those who took the time to get to know him. He was one of a kind and will be missed by many. He was also a member of the Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company. He is survived by three brothers: Bruce, Richard and wife Mary and Glynn Lewis; one aunt: Eleanor Griffiths; one uncle: Lester Griffiths; cousins and nephews. The funeral was held Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at 11:00 am from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA, with Pastor Peg Knapich, pastor of the Clifford and Lenoxville United Methodist Churches, officiating. Interment, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford, PA. Pallbearers: Phillip Mazza, Trevor Walczak, Michael Krisa, Fred Cobb, Jordan and Colin Davis. Friends called Tuesday, April 13, 2010, from 6-8 PM.
