Roberta H. Casper, 95, a lifelong resident of Carbondale, PA., died Friday night, October 12, 2007 at home after a lengthy illness. She was the widow of Ret. Sgt. Harold W. Casper, Pennsylvania State Police, who died November 19, 1988.
Born May 10, 1912 in Carbondale PA., she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Bridget McCann Hogan. She was a graduate of St. Rose Academy, class of 1930 and was a lifetime member of St. Rose of Lima Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Carbondale Women's Club, St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary and the Retired State Police Association of Pennsylvania. She retired from the Scranton Electric Company in Carbondale.
She is survived by two daughters: Anne Marie Craig of Carbondale, PA., who was her caregiver and Roberta B. Spangenberg of Clarks Summit, PA.; one son: William E. Casper and wife Janet of Scranton, PA.; 9 Grandchildren; 8 Great Grandchildren; one nephew: David Burrier of Scranton, PA. She was preceded in death by a great granddaughter: Erin Hogan Casper. The funeral was held Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 8:30 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by the Rev. William D. Campbell, senior priest. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Pallbearers: Robert, J.D., and Michael Craig, Paul Spangenberg, Patrick Casper, David Burrier and William Parisot.
Friends called Tuesday, October 16, 2007 from 2-4 7-9 PM at the funeral home, which was Roberta's original home where she was born and raised as a child.
