Robert F. Woody, 79, formerly of Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, PA., died Friday night, November 21, 2008 at the Taylor Nursing Home, Taylor, PA. He was the husband of the former Frances Fritzi Vadala who died September 3, 2000. Born September 24, 1929 in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late Henry and Margarite Rowland Woody.He was a retired maintenance man for Grumman-Olsen, Mayfield, PA. and was a social member of the VFW in Eynon, PA., the Moxie Club, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion all of Carbondale. The family would like to thank the staff at the Taylor Nursing Home for the kind and compassionate care given to Bob. He is survived by three sons: Robert Woody and wife Patty of Visilia, CA., Joseph Woody and wife Marion of Hop Bottom, PA. and Gerald Woody and wife Carolee of Old Forge, PA.; three sisters: Peggy Shifler of Virginia, Jean Cooligan of Michigan and Mary Robinson of Endwell, NY.; one brother: James Woody of Carbondale, PA.; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by two brothers: Joseph John Woody.A blessing service was held Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 10:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, with the Rev. William D. Campbell, senior priest, officiating. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township. Pallbearers: Jerry Woody, Joseph Woody, Steven Woody, Jeremy Woody, Larry Thomas and Bruno Vadala. Friends called Monday, November 24, 2008 from 5-8 PM.
